Why Global Governance Matters More Than Global Footprint

Global technology delivery depends on more than getting equipment to the right place.
Customers also need confidence that the products behind their environments can be supported when requirements change, timelines tighten or unexpected issues arise.
AVI-SPL’s Global Preferred Partner Programme brings together relationships with leading technology providers that have been established as best-in-clasEnterprise technology programmes increasingly span regions, teams and different business needs. Supporting those programmes well requires an approach that brings global resources together while still allowing teams to respond to local requirements.
For AVI-SPL, that means creating a connected experience across markets and staying focused on what each customer is trying to accomplish.
John Zettel, CEO of AVI-SPL, shares his perspective on what makes global technology delivery work and how AVI-SPL approaches supporting customers around the world.
John Zettel: Geographic reach is certainly important for multinational organisations. Just as important is understanding how the provider supports customers across those markets.
Customers want to know that experienced teams are available where they operate and that there is a reliable way of working across regions.
For me, strong global capability comes from connecting those resources around the customer. Teams need to understand the larger relationship while also being able to respond to what is happening locally.
When that works well, customers have a clearer sense of what to expect as their technology programme moves across locations and regions.
John Zettel: Managing technology across many locations naturally creates complexity.
Each office may have different requirements, while the organisation is also working towards broader technology and workplace goals. A consistent approach gives teams a common foundation for planning and delivery.
That foundation can also make it easier to maintain standards while giving local teams room to address the needs of their market.
The objective is not to make every location identical. It is to create an approach that supports the larger strategy and can still adapt where needed.
John Zettel: Local expertise is an important part of successful global delivery.
Every market has its own considerations. Teams working in those regions understand the local environment and can bring that knowledge into the project.
At the same time, they are connected to the customer’s broader goals and technology strategy.
Bringing those perspectives together helps customers benefit from local knowledge while maintaining continuity across their overall programme.
John Zettel: One of the most important things we can do is make the experience easier for the customer.
Global technology programmes can involve many stakeholders and moving pieces. A connected operating model helps bring those activities together.
Planning connects to deployment. Programme teams maintain visibility across the work. Service and support continue throughout the lifecycle.
When those pieces work together, customers have a clearer view of their programme and can spend more time focused on the business outcomes they are trying to achieve.
John Zettel: No. Every customer has different needs.
One organisation may be undertaking a large workplace transformation across several countries. Another may need support for smaller projects in individual markets.
Our approach has to work for both.
The common thread is understanding the customer’s broader technology strategy and making sure the work happening locally supports that direction.
Over time, that creates greater continuity across the relationship.
John Zettel: We want global delivery to feel straightforward and connected.
Customers should feel confident that the right resources are available and that our teams understand both the local requirements and the bigger picture.
Our focus is always on what the customer is trying to accomplish.
Technology will continue to evolve, and so will workplace needs. Our role is to help customers navigate that change and support their technology programmes wherever their business takes them.
That is what being a global technology partner means to me.
Successful global technology programmes depend on many things working together.
Global resources provide reach. Local teams bring knowledge of their markets. A connected operating model helps keep the work aligned as programmes grow and change.
AVI-SPL brings those elements together around the customer, helping organisations manage technology across regions while maintaining the flexibility to respond to local needs.
For us, global capability is about supporting customers with the people, resources and experience they need wherever they operate.
